Back from a 3800 Km journey to heaven...

Way out here you can see for miles

If there was anything to be seen
Maybe I could tell the difference between
Where I am and where I've been..

Kargil - Leh highway....

Suru Valley

Zanskar..

Finally back to God's own campus after my best vacation ever.. Two weeks spent in some of the most beautiful places on this planet.. From rain to snow storms.. saw it all... during the 3800 Km ride.. to heaven and back.. through Ladakh, Zanskar and the verdant Kashmir valley..

Lovely pictures, and congratulations on completing such a fabulous trip. I was in Ladakh this June, but the more mundane way, by jeep, through Manali-Leh highway. Loved the picture of Zanskar valley. Have to go back there one day!

@Mridula - Thnx... Even I can't wait to go back to the mountains... the only catch is finding time for it..

I came across your blog through Mridula's site. And I absolutely love these pictures of Ladakh. I haven't been there myself, but Mridula's write-ups have aroused a curiosity and these pictures will probably further enthuse me to undertake the trip.

The first 2 pictures are almost too picture perfect. The blues are so blue :-) Did you enhance them in some way ? If not, I can hardly wait for my next trip to India and a possible trip to Ladakh.

@Pooja - Thnx for visiting and gud to know that u liked the snaps.

The clear blue skies are a distinct feature of these high altitude landscapes due to the rarefied air. I do edit my snaps to balance the colors and contrast. So visit Ladakh once.. it will be worth it!

Monis from Afghanistan:

Awesome pics and its real cool to be there that too on a 150CC Honda Unicorn !! I hope one day they let us ride from Kashmir to Afghanistan directly via Pakistan without any hassles; Afghanistan is exactly similar to the landscape I see in your pics.

PEACE
